About Us

The story of Nam Phuong Restaurant began in 1992, with a Vietnamese woman named Hương Võ who made the difficult decision to migrate to the United States with her five children after losing her husband.

After months in a refugee camp, the family arrived in Northern California with very little, carrying only hope, determination, and a deep connection to Vietnamese food and family values. Like many immigrant stories, the early days were not easy. Hương worked long hours as a waitress in a Vietnamese restaurant while also attending community college, where she earned her associate degree in accounting.

Through years of hard work and saving, she took her first step into the restaurant business in 1998, partnering with her cousin to open her first restaurant in Newark, California. Her children worked alongside her, learning not only how to cook and serve food, but also the importance of perseverance, responsibility, and caring for people.

In 2000, she opened her own restaurant in Sunnyvale, California. Shortly after, her oldest son followed in her footsteps, opening a restaurant in Hayward while continuing his education and earning an MBA. Together, the family slowly grew, sharing the same dream of bringing Vietnamese food made with care to more communities.

Who We Are

Bringing Vietnamese Flavors to Georgia

In 2014, her son and his family moved to Georgia. After many conversations, Hương agreed to make the move as well, bringing with her decades of cooking experience, family recipes, and a sincere passion for serving others.

With her arrival, Nam Phuong became a place where Vietnamese home-style cooking and family traditions could continue to live on. Our menu reflects the flavors of all three regions of Vietnam, inspired by meals shared at the family table rather than trends or shortcuts.

More Than a Restaurant

At Nam Phuong, we believe good food should feel familiar, comforting, and shared. We are not here to impress with trends, but to serve meals that bring people together.

Today, we are grateful to serve guests of all backgrounds, families who return year after year, friends gathering late into the night, and newcomers discovering Vietnamese cuisine for the first time. We are honored to be part of the community and thankful for the trust our guests place in us.

Our story continues to grow, shaped by the people who walk through our doors. And if you’re lucky, you may hear more of it in person.
